Thanks to Marie Kondo and her and ruthless spring cleaning tips, everyone is all about organizing their personal spaces. However, did you know that even your skin care routine needs a solid spring cleaning session as well?
Similar to how you transitioned into cold-weather skincare by increasing the intensity of certain products to help protect your skin against the cold winter air and excessive dryness, now it’s time to get back to a lighter swing of things so that your skin can continue looking and feeling its best self while navigating the warmer fresher climates.
Here are some ways to scrub away the cold and give your skin care routine good ol’ fashioned spring clean.
- Change Your Moisturizer
Shift gears and bring back moisturizers that are lighter in intensity for normal skin. Now that you can start preparing your good-byes to the sub-arctic air which mercilessly dried out your skin give your skin a break with some lighter moisturizer. Keep in mind, if you have certain skin ailments including excessive dry skin, psoriasis or eczema keep the existing intensity of your moisturizer through the spring season is always a good idea.
You Can Try:
When: Daily (morning and evening)
Why: this super light, non-comedogenic hydrator which is buoyed by antioxidants (which neutralize free radicals from the sun, pollution and irritation) is perfect for oily skin. Low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring complex sugar molecule that hydrates and plumps the skin by holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. High molecular weight HA sits on top of the skin due to its large molecular size and acts as a humectant while low molecular weight HA helps to replenish the lost HA in the deeper layers of the skin that occurs during the aging process.
- Always Practice Safe Sun
I have three words for you. SPF, SPF and most importantly SPF. Always remember to protect your skin from the UVA and UVB rays regardless of the seasons. As the temps increase, it’s a good idea to let your pores breath. Maybe opt out of the heavy makeup and foundation and go for a tinted version of the broad-spectrum sunscreen to give you the added boost of pigment that you want in addition to the safe sun action.
You Can Try:
Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 40: This tinted facial sunscreen with a matte finish is perfect for normal to oily skin. Because of the tint, it can also be used as a foundation as well.
Clear Shield Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 42: This lightweight sunscreen is formulated for all skin types even for those with oily, redness and acne-prone skin.
Sheer Hydration Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 40: This broad spectrum facial sunscreen also includes a moisturizing formula and is perfect for all skin types.
Why: Whether it’s spring, summer, fall or winter, SPF needs to always be part of your skin care routine. Protecting the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays, this broad-spectrum sunscreen is loaded with nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin E, resveratrol, grape seed extract, and glutathione.
- Bring Back the Spring Shine with Exfoliation
Keeping in mind that your skin regenerates every 28 days, giving your skin a solid exfoliating session is always a good thing. It’s like doing the windows of your place. There is nothing like the sight of light bouncing off the freshly-scrubbed surfaces of your home. So, think of your face as that surface that glows when its rid of those annoying dead skin cells blocking all of your good shine.
You Can Try:
Bright & Clear Solution
When: Morning and evening
Why: This award-wining product is packed with Lactic acid, Lime Pearl and soy amino acids, this solution is perfectly formulated to encourage cell renewal revealing a brighter skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
